RCDB provides technology for connected Blu-ray discs called BD-Live and connected Blu-ray players called Blu-ray Magic

BD Live is a new category of interactive home theater experience that combines the social connections and interactivity of the Internet with the quality and production value of Blu-ray home theater. RCDb has developed client and server software that enables new cross-platform home entertainment applications.

The RCDb BD-Live Client is is a BD-J application that is delivered on BD-ROM discs. This BD-Live Client application is compliant with the BD-ROM specifications for BD-Java and has proven compatibility with Profile 1.0, 1.1, PS3 2.0, WinDVD, ArcSoft, Cyberlink and multiple pre-release 2.0 players including the Panasonic BD-50. The purpose of the RCDb Client is to allow a BD-ROM disc's contents to connect to an RCDb Server and to facilitate the exchange of data and new content.

BD-Live Client and Server technology enables content owners to:

  • Update Blu-ray disc content automatically or on demand
  • Enable user registration and audience management
  • Access messaging protocols for statistics and general application support

The RCDb BD-Live Client application has no user-interface and is designed to run in the background at all times. This allows the application to perform operations such as content downloading and user management while other applications come and go.
